gender’s a super complicated issue there are so many factors that tie into it societal stuff and personal stuff and psychological stuff so it’s kind of hard to talk about it but um here’s my personal thoughts
i THINK it would probably be good IF we could just get rid of gender entirely, but
- i doubt that will ever happen because it’s such a deeply ingrained thing at this point that it would be near impossible to get rid of it
- if it ever does stop being an issue it won’t be for a very long time
- doing away with it could potentially have negative effects somehow (i don’t know how but it’s possible) i mean we evolved to have two sexes because it’s such an efficient way of reproducing and the genders came naturally from there so getting rid of them COULD be an issue in that way but idk
anyway so yeah the other thing is that while part of it is that some people feel uncomfortable in the gender that they’re born into, it’s as much about getting out of that gender as it is about getting into the one that does feel right
i mean i’m cis and male and i like being male i feel comfortable being male and frankly i’m not comfortable with the idea of being thought of by other people as agendered because that’s not who i am to myself
i’m a boy!!! i don’t know i’m speaking from the perspective of a person who does live in a world where gender groups are a thing so i can’t really say whether i’d want to have a gender if there weren’t any
i guess it’s impossible to say because i can’t know how i’d feel otherwise
sorry if none of this makes sense it’s almost 4 in the morning
my point is i don’t think gender groups are going away any time soon and that’s necessarily a bad thing, i think we’re definitely moving in a good direction though
i think instead of wanting to abolish gender altogether we should just want to get people to accept each other regardless of how they identify and then we go from there

i’m of the opinion that gender and gender roles really don’t have any place, particularly not in today’s social climate where nothing is totally restricted based on gender anymore. definitely speedbumps though. i agree with your closing statement
